Mountain Pines is a square shawl that begins with a center square; stitches are picked up around the center and the border is worked out to the edge where the lace edging is then applied. You can knit this with fingering weight yarn for a really large shawl or lace weight for a more traditional shawl. Row-by-row directions and charts are included.
